Application Preferences

A vast majority of delegates who attend Harvard National Model United Nations form delegations with students from their college or university. Please refer to the application materials in the Content Library of the conference website (www.hnmun.org) for details on the delegation sizes, the Country Assignment List, and the fees associated with attending the conference. We offer additional spots in continual crisis committees and the NGO Program for single delegates wishing to participate in HNMUN. Applications for these spots can be found at www.hnmun.org. Please contact our staff at info@hnmun.org or (617) 495-5828 to request a paper copy of the materials if you cannot access these materials online.

Delegations must have at least six delegates to represent a country. Delegation size is determined by the number of committees of which the country is a member. For the purposes of registration, a small delegation consists of fewer than 10 delegates, whereas a large delegation consists of 10 or more delegates.

At least one delegate MUST be placed on each committee assigned to a delegation. Please refer to the Country Assignment List for an explanation of all abbreviations used. The following requirements apply to delegate spots in committees: Two delegates are required on the SC. Two delegates may optionally be placed on DISEC, SOCHUM, SPECPOL, Legal, CWFECID, UNHRC, CSD, and EU. Only one delegate may be placed on WCW, HGA, UNDP, WB, CND, ECLAC, AU, ARF, HSC, FSC, ICTR, G20, and the continual crisis committees (the JCC). Spots on NATO and JEGM are available by application only.

Note: No delegation will be assigned a country whose minimum number of slots is higher than the number of delegates attending.
